Oak Patio Doors with Opening Sidelights Using Traditional Joinery

A returning client based in Hampshire asked us to replace some modern constructed patio doors with some handmade oak high quality doors with sidelights to match a set of external oak doors we made a few years ago for them.

An initial visit and survey was completed, designs and drawings were then submitted to the client for approval.

Inside a heavy oak frame with hand carved spandrels were a pair of doors with hand carved linenfold panels all put together using wedged and glued mortice and tenon joints and opening casements with hand made lead light glazing.

Although we use traditional methods of construction and black iron handles and stays, modern seals are used to keep out draughts on the doors and windows.

The old frame was removed by ourselves and the new frame , doors and sidelight windows were fitted, final dressing and internal scribes were completed the following day.
